Urine infections in women

UTIs most commonly occur in women. This is because women have a shorter urethra than men and the urethra is therefore closer to the anus.

Essentially, this makes it easier for the bacteria that cause a UTI to reach your bladder from the anus.

Some women are more prone to developing a UTI related to sexual activity, but not all women.
