Stress and bladder pain
Reviewed by Dr Jonah Mink, April 21'25 sec read
Certain conditions that cause bladder pain are associated with high stress levels. Interstitial cystitis, or painful bladder syndrome, is a condition which affects women more commonly than men. It leads to abdominal pain, pain on urinating and strong, sudden urges to pass water. The cause is unknown, but one trigger factor is believed to be physical or emotional stress.
Modifications to lifestyle factors and self care can be the first line of treatment prior to more invasive management.
